It’s the use of vowels that maketh complete sounds in the English language and AI has two of them! Is that why it is making so much noise? A completely unworthy pun intended, sometimes we come across certain things in life and realise how insignificant life is, yet at the same time incredibly worthy of attention. Ginko Bugs and their music balances themselves on this dialectic aspect of life and their latest single ‘AI Song (Made By Me)’ is the crackiest number I’ve heard.

‘AI Song (Made By Me)’ by the Sweden-Stokholm-based indie band Ginko Bugs is their latest release after a long gap and it is a graphically penned peppy sound. Words like, “I wish I had a small clone of me, I’d teach him what to do and how to be. A nice guy but not a joker & of course too good to become a party smoker”, made me wonder the next. What we humans have as AI today, and desire to create a better version of us with it; what if we already are the perfect AI version of someone/something bigger than us? Just like how we have made God look like us because we look like God. Only this software has corrupted and making art transmutes the virus.
The music is extremely funky and they have a group of kids singing a chorus on the ‘AI’ part making it sound very funny & mechanic. “Everything is happening to me, it’s me and my clone, so naturally. Such a nice guy, he listen well, but if you’re not the part of the plan, you can go to hell!” Humour plays a huge part in the unfolding of the song and sarcasm too, making me realise how they are the only way to deal with the insignificant part of life.

Erik Åredal who uses the name Lt. Bo Biloba is the alter ego & Crew manages Gingo Bugs. He is a multi-personality and multi-talented who has been in the indie music scene for a while now, creating weird and fun mixes. As a music reviewer, one is always surprised and in awe of the wonderful, wild, and innovative artists I come around. Ginko Bugs is one such band whose music will be on the waiting list from now.
