One of the UK’s upcoming favourite singer-songwriter Lee Hornsby, also known as, Chords of Indigo released his first new single of 2024. “Labyrinth” is yet another incredible heart-stabbing-painful song from this incredible poet/storyteller. Lee writes his own songs and like all others, ‘Labyrinth’ touches deep somewhere unknown inside, just as the name reveals.
The song mixes indie rock and alternative pop styles with lively beats and strong emotions. The lyrics are inspired from the Novel ‘House of Leaves’ by Mark Z. Danielewski which Lee was reading while recovering from flu. As the dynamic lyric speaks, “the darker deeper you go, know that your fair bread crumbs won’t help you through this one!” It explores themes like obsession and relationships.
Lee’s captivating voice, smoothly transitions from intimate soft to being loud. The anthemic essence of this song gives a vibe similar to Tool-like atmosphere, with dynamic instrumentals and lyrical complexity. Swirling guitars, punchy beats, and poignant bassline merges folk-rock and dark-pop vibes. Produced and blended in his home studio, ‘Labyrinth’ stands as evidence of Chords of Indigo’s prowess as both a musician and producer.
