Dulcet Calmness Set in Vivace Keys: Magdi Aboul-Kheir’s ‘Found the Way’

‘Found the Way’ is an act of balance composed by pianist and journalist Magdi Aboul-Kheir. His recently released album, ‘The Mirror of Truth,’ takes the listener on a journey through ten self-reflective-themed songs. ‘Found the Way’ reflects the moment of finally finding balance within oneself. The composition explores the forces of duality in life with a dance of black & white keys. Pianist Aboul-Kheir’s brilliant musical storytelling carries one towards an epiphany.

The music plays between the two hemispheres of the brain, like one is communicating with the other. Left starts the conversation, while right listens deeply, responding only as required. As the left is on a spree, the right begins to sway, and then, as the left relaxes into a heartfelt swing, the right takes a soulful leap. A new melody emerges. A spurt of familiarity rushes through the body. Is that how it feels? Is that how love feels? Then suddenly, from that peaceful space of love, a third makes an appearance. When does the third become the focal point? When do the two become one? What happens next? It is a unique journey each listener must take when listening to Madgi Aboul-Kheir’s ‘Found the Way’.
