Freshman Album ‘Love Me…Not’ by Mia Delamar is a Bold Blending of Soul R&B, & Emotional Storytelling

Love Me…Not is a fervent emotional ride through twelve bespoke experiences from Mia Delamar’s life. This debut album sees her opening her heart to the world. Mia’s exuberantly zealous journey, concisely packed into just 26 years, began as a ballet dancer, singer, songwriter, and actor. Her first curve towards the limelight came at a very tender age of just three weeks, when Mia won a beauty pageant, and since then, there has been no looking back. Following the success of singles like H.O.M.B. and Cool, Mia put together a collection of seven previously unreleased songs, expanding her 2023 EP into this intense, full-length album, Love Me…Not.

Into You begins with a passionate cry; Mia’s voice ignites the moment with the rush of her new love. Into You is a song about having a teenage crush that is now blooming into a more mature feeling for the beloved. There’s an urgency in the rhythm, a blissful impatience of young new love. By the end of the song, it pulls the heartstrings into a rush of emotions, capturing the pace of Mia’s feelings.

With Whatever Mia rides, the self-doubt wagon that comes from prior trust traumas. This song, written by Mia, is a gutsy one. Often, the pain of past failed relationships evokes feelings of desperation. The fear of losing a loved one makes it onerous and thus arouses the sentiment to succumb. “Don’t you give my love away. I’m down for whatever you say.” Whatever lifts the curtain of passion to the raw reality of relationships. And the next in line, Anyway follows a similar theme, weaving sweeter affection into the storyline. The rhythm reflects a tender yet more demanding version of crafting a relationship, even with the faults and cracks. Mia’s voice in Anyway has a gripping quality that mirrors the song’s motif.

Personal gets really personal with the magical and mystical love in Mia’s heart, spreading like an uncontrolled wildfire. It’s a drifty number that makes one take the dance floor. Cool – MiMix in this album comes in with a slightly longer version of the 2022 release. The song has the feel of requital for the love and trust lost. Alright is a powerful lyrical expression of personal grit and willpower. It carries an ‘I am still the Queen, no matter the pains or problems’ kind of vibe. Upbeat and full of resolve, the song gives a feel of positive resolution. In fact, the album seems to take a feisty turn with Alright.

Alright, onwards, the album gets really intense as Mia expresses her experiences uninhibitedly. My favourite of the dozen has to be My Love Don’t Mean a Thing. The addictive beats of the song hang on to the ears long after it ends. My Love Don’t Mean a Thing is a song of apathy, and the hurt is bursting through the seams of Mia’s voice. It’s full of rawness and honesty, something Mia Delamar has proved again and again with her ‘you-cannot-escape-the-truth’ songwriting. Go give Love Me…Not a listen and unveil the suspense of the latter half of the album.

As a singer-songwriter, musician, choreographer-dancer, and actress, Mia Delamar has the potential to become a sensational icon. With her impressive rundown, she is already being known as the ‘Swiss Army Knife of Music’ by her fans and industry peers. Mia’s freshman album, Love Me…Not has been highly anticipated this year and is now available on all music streaming platforms.
