Giantheo is a music project by artists Giancarlo Prandelli and Matteo Sainaghi who met in 2003 and decided to come together to create music. The Italian artists have been releasing music since 2008 and have built up an impressive discography of singles and an album. Their latest single “Tommy Al Lunapark” is an electronic pop track that is perfect to start a party off on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Written by Sainaghi Matteo, “Tommy Al Lunapark” translates to ‘Tommy at the amusement park’ in English and the track is just as fun and relaxed as the title suggests. The very chill electronic guitar tones start the track off and continue as a major instrumental element throughout the track, setting a relaxed ambience. We hear electronic, auto-tuned robotic ad-libs right off the bat that are echoed out and give us a hint about what is going to follow.

Composed by Giancarlo Prandelli, the very elemental production strays away from complicating the sonic elements. The track’s charm lies in its simplicity. The beat is consistent and brings a lot of energy to the track. The repetition of the word “Lunapark” in the chorus adds to this energy and creates a hypnotic effect. The vocal performance moves from spoken word to very quick rapping, all delivered in deep, layered and whispery vocals that stand in juxtaposition to the very colourful production. I thought that the effects on the voices added variety and texture to the track.
