Chris Wirsig is conventionally known for his dark cinematic compositions and eerie soundscapes. But in his latest album, Soul Flow: Dreamy New Age, he takes an ethereal off-route. A dreamy sequence of ten tracks guides us into a forthcoming, magical world of electronica and ambient music. Chris Wirsig is a renowned composer, and with his new album, he balances his outer world of work with his inner world of desires. In Soul Flow: Dreamy New Age, Chris leans into serenity and crafts a surreal path to enter the new age. With his music, he steadies our steps into what is ahead, gently, and explores it from the experience of the past chaos, as felt in the sixth track, Memory Fields.
The tenth track, Moon Call, is as mystical as the feeling we get when gazing at the moon. In many ancient cultures, the moon symbolizes memory, and this piece feels like a merging of moonlit moments from the past with the visions of the future. The track draws us into the mysticism of memory itself, where the ancient returns as the future. Wrapped in a dreamy, gentle soft invitation, the album doesn’t end; it cycles back, completing the Soul’s Flow.
The second piece, Forest Meditation, is my favourite among the ten. It is slower-paced and more fluid. A smoother transition from the introductory track, Vibrant Mind. The first song, as the name suggests, establishes the mind of the future, which radiates high-spirited energy. In continuation, and as an addition, Forest Meditation welcomes the meditative layers of sweetness. The kind we encounter in nature, deep within a forest. It immerses us in the sacred stillness, inviting listeners into the silence of the inner awareness. Such that, we find the joy of the Mellow Flower blooming.

The seventh track is an epiphany. Stars Inside reveals the cosmic greatness that lives within each one of us. After traversing through Memory Fields and journeying to what might be called the dark night of the soul, Wirwig awakens his listeners to quiet revelation. The infinite potential of our ever-expanding inner universes. This piece is certainly another personal favourite, and closely rivals Timeless Fleeting. I found Timeless Fleeting very unique; it carries a sound that feels like childish play, and then transitions midway into something more mature, while still preserving a spark of magical innocence. A paradox captured, which possibly can be felt only by the inner child living within. The piece feels like a trickle-down from the album’s namesake track. Soul Flow captures the imagination like it were the transition of the soul from the ancient to the future.
Soul Fow: Dreamy New Age is an immersive, meditative experience. With years of experience and a reputation as one of the most sought-after electronica musicians, Chris is a true magician of the genre. His music is smooth, heartfelt, and this album radiates a quiet exuberance.
