There’s such softness in her song that my eyes closed and lips smiled. As I heard ‘Without Our Love’ by Ottawa-born singer-songwriter Audrey Saparno, a white light like an afterglow spread through my mind. The words of her songs painting a beautiful visual that felt like an aura of hope and love.

As the drum loosely rolls into the song’s signature strum, and the piano unfolds the story, the melody hungs in the mid-air, floating. Like sitting in an arm chair on a relaxed warm afternoon with summer breeze cooling the spots of sweats. Audrey Saparno’s voice is plush with love. Her tone warm and kind, like a rapture.
There’s such simple truth in her words that it truly makes me wonder why can’t we see the simplicity. “I watched the people pass by my window… This world is so beautiful, makes me wonder. How’s there so much trouble so far away! …history says that we can’t get along. But I see the same smiles on same faces and our hearts they sing the same song! I wonder why, we don’t try.” And why do we have war and fight against our Self? I like how the part “Hope can’t live in this darkness. Without our love”, is a duet with male voice asserting balance.

In a world where humanity is waking up to the realisation of the darkness it has been drowning, song like this is a beacon of hope that we need. Thank you Audrey.
