I find myself extremely grateful to have come across this amazing indie folk Cape Town based singer songwriter Brandon Grant. His new single ‘Knowing’ is a beautiful self-reflective song that he has written on this path of finding himself. ‘Knowing’ is the title-track from Grant’s upcoming debut album which is in-line to be released before the end of this year.

When one is in the journey of finding themselves, the world turns completely topsy turvy. What was believed to have no connection between them, emerges deeply connected. The outside world perceived to have no link with the inside world, appears to be reflection of eachother. The path of exploring is confusing & lonely, and Brandon Grant’s ‘Knowing’ confirms this duality of reality.
The Knowing of Life
‘Knowing’ begins with a melodious guitar strumming and Brandon’s soulful voice revealing the depth of his words. “I am falling down in the ocean, I fall down untill I am home but stay still, I feel emotion, I havent felt since I’ve been home, with you”, caliberating mark of someone who thinks and feels intensely.
“But you couldnt stay, because my mind got in the way..”, a realisation of where all the pain begins and seems to end. Grant’s song shares the ‘knowing’ of the cause and effect and the learning of balance the knowing seems to bring. The sound of the song is profound and is a lullaby of the heart. I have been listening on repeat.

Brandon has recorded and produced the song entirely by himself, welcoming him into the world of multi-talented artist. Awaiting the video release of the song this upcoming friday and wishing a lot of luck and may his music spread like fire. Brandon’s style of music reminds me of another soulful singersongwiter Sam Garrett.
