“So come on and dance, to the rhythm that was, sing around & laugh, while we turn to dust!” Quite literally, we humans do turn to dust in the end, and most of us do so with the sadness of the rhythm lost. But how lovely it would be if we did what Adam + Attack by Fire laments in his newly released track ‘Rhythm That Was’. Imbibing the folk and cowboy feel is a heart-warming tale of all that is found & lost in love.

‘Rhythm That Was’ alternates between old-fashioned country-folk strings, swaying percussive layers, and reflective melodies. The song mirrors the human experience of holding onto memories while marching forward. Every word written by Adam Tarsitano echoes an intimate story-telling, most likely from his own life. Adam’s voice adds a deeper layer of emotion to the song.

In ‘Rhythm That Was’ the band takes a turn into a variant genre route. It has a classic folk, soft rock, and country feel with danceable melancholic lyrics. Words like, “Forever feels like another day. It always doesn’t—until they go away!”, carry a very realistic yet almost prehistoric sense of realisation and epiphany. “She sold me on a future made of sand.” This line is so painful; I can only imagine the agony one must have endured to write it. The song is a true reflection of the singer’s heart, evoking feelings that are deeply personal while also resonating with the listeners.
