“Secret Place” features the keys as a foundational element that starts the track off. The two layers, one that flows and the other that sets up rhythm interact with each other and have a sense of urgency to them. The percussion although subtle in the first verse and more pronounced in the second, aids this sense of restlessness effectively.

The vocals by Belgian artist Human Without Gravity is introduced as soon as the track begins and the layering of vocals harmonies add texture to the single. Human Without Gravity holds the essence of the track in her vocal performance and displays range and versatility on it. The bridge is slower in terms of pacing and the calmness in her voice offers much needed respite.

The sense of urgency and confusion that is explored lyrically on the single is also reflected sonically. The line “Where Should I go” is repeated and themes such as terror, hiding and survival are explored. The track does not follow a narrative, but rather drops the listener amidst an intense emotion and lets them experience it along with the music. It spends its words explaining a state of mind entailing the absence of belonging and confusions about the decision to stay or leave. The track starts and ends with the same line, but the second time around is delivered with much exhaustion. It is a journey as the title suggests to the “Secret Place” but the last line leaves a listener wondering whether it can actually ever be found.
