Anahita Modarresi is effortless on instrumental track “Windie”

Anahita Modarresi is a self-taught Iranian German music composer and artist who found the power of songwriting at the age of 29. It is rare and inspiring to see artists discover creativity through music at a later stage in life and Anahita Morradesi’s journey to her first single is inundated with pain and darkness. She has been borrowing stories from her own life and translating them through music since 2017. With a single and EP under her belt, she is back with her latest release “Windie”!

The track has quite a stark starting with a shrill violin that gives away mysterious and haunted energy. This is accompanied by sombre and dark keys. We slowly transition and settle into a calmer ambience but are never fully allowed to trust the peace. The keys become more ethereal as the track progresses. The sombre and painful string work gets incrementally beautiful. The Bass strings in the background add depth to the single and the flute brings a South East Asian touch.

The instrumental piece consists of the violin, the bass strings, the flute and the keys as its foundational elements. The way all of them come together feel deliberately chaotic and experimental. I personally wished the track was longer in a manner that allowed for a buildup, wind down or change of intensities. The track flows from one section to the other without confining itself to the rigid boundaries of song structure and ends with an urgent build-up of the keys.

One can assume that the track is named “Windie” because it flows as easily and effortlessly as the wind, or because of the importance it places on the wind instrument on it! Either way is a clever manner of titling the song. Make sure to check out “Windie” by Anahita Modarresi here:
