Laji George’s “Alone” feels like a companion for your loneliness. A slow, grunge track, the song reminds me of Jar in Flies era Alice In Chains in its mood and atmosphere. The whole track carries that 90s and early 00’s angst that permeated through every song during that time.
Drawing inspiration from grunge and alt rock, Laji George takes inspiration from bands like Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Staind without sounding like a copycat. “Alone” has its own life. The song feels worn-in and human, maybe a bit like how rock bottom sounds, honestly.

Laji George’s vocals are soaked in emotions and grit. He sounds like someone trying to keep it together while quietly falling apart. Every lyric lands with gravity because he sings them like he actually means every word.
The production deserves credit too. It’s raw, gritty and edgy. The distorted textures, the slow-burning build, the dark chorus, all of it blends together to create a song that feels emotionally claustrophobic in the best way possible.
The song explores loneliness without romanticizing it, capturing the emotional fog that is familiar to all of us.
An alt-rock track in 2026 sounds like a dream. But hey, if more artists like Laji George come out with their music, maybe we will truly have a second grunge revolution soon.
