Savagegroup really took their own sweet time to come out with new single “Paradise Lost”, a melodic metal fiesta for those who like loud riffs and even louder vocals. The band was founded in 2018 by multi-instrumentalist Thomas. Ever since then, the project has taken a rather slow-cooked approach to making music, and this new single is worth every second of that wait.
Built around the classic melodic metal sound of the ’80s and ’90s, you can hear big crunchy guitars, solid musicianship and songwriting that knows a good riff deserves all the attention.

Thomas’ experience as a multi-instrumentalist has paid off. Having picked up drums as a three-year-old before moving into guitar, bass and keyboards, he has spent years honing his craft and translating what he was hearing in his head into listenable music. The song was written in such a way that every instrument, including the vocals demanded to be placed in the way that they have been. That only goes to prove his mastery over the craft.
That DIY attitude gives “Paradise Lost” much of its rebellious personality. It’s very evident that Savagegroup spent a lot of time in the studio polishing their arrangements over and over again to get them to turn out exactly the way they wanted. They focused on fine-tuning details that might be harder to pull off for a band that’s releasing music more often.
The chemistry between Thomas and rhythm guitarist Daniel is also very obvious in the track. The way they approached a very 60s-inspired sound and still gave it a modern edge is remarkable. It feels like musicians revisiting a style they genuinely love because they still have something to say with it.
With their album “Fallen Angel” expected in 2027, this single works as a promising teaser of what Savagegroup has been cooking. They might have taken their due time, but “Paradise Lost” suggests they would rather release something they believe in than chase a deadline. For listeners who enjoy their metal with melody, Savagegroup has a lot to offer.
