Simon Green returns with a fresh Bonobo chapter and a stacked guest list
Bonobo is back in album mode!
Simon Green has officially announced Distance in Static, the first full-length Bonobo record since 2022’s Fragments. Landing on September 11 via Ninja Tune, the new project brings together an eclectic lineup of collaborators, including Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis of Hundred Waters, Aanya Martin, and Kanako Yamamoto.
Finding signals in the chaos

To kickstart things, Green has shared “Me and You,” a track that fans may already recognize from his recent DJ sets. After months of floating around dance floors and festival crowds, the song now becomes the first official taste of the new era.
While speaking about the album’s title, Green mentioned being drawn to the idea of searching for meaning inside overwhelming noise.
“I think the front end of what I’ve done has now become something that’s referential to younger people. I liked the idea of listening for a distant signal—trying to find something in the noise,” he said in a press release.
Across 14 tracks, Distance in Static moves between intimate collaborations and immersive electronic landscapes. Standout moments already include “Fire on the Water” featuring Arooj Aftab and “Youth’s Fountain” with Nilüfer Yanya.
A new live era starts this fall
Bonobo will also launch a brand-new live show later this year with a run of North American dates beginning in November.
The tour opens in Austin before hitting major stops including Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Philadelphia, and wrapping in Brooklyn in early December.
After soundtrack work for the anime series Lazarus alongside Kamasi Washington and Floating Points, Green’s return to the Bonobo universe feels perfectly timed.
