In the age of two-minute attention spans, asking someone to spend ten minutes on one song feels like a LOT. Luckily, French electronic artist Rorksha makes every second of their new single “Récif” count.
The track opens with a soft, melancholic mood, supported by a steady hum of single guitar notes that hangs loosely in the background. At first it feels calm and meditative, but that’s only just the beginning. Not long after, dark electronic textures creep in, and the atmosphere morphs into something far more immersive. The beats build up steadily, changing pace along the way and entrancing you deeper into its hypnotic world.
There is a very vibrant contrast between the warm acoustic guitar and the cold electronic production. The vocals sit comfortably between the two, adding more substance and depth. This keeps the song engaging even as it drifts into an ambient and drone-inspired soundscape.

Récif is also slightly trippy. The production is clean and its rhythm evolves throughout the song, making it easy to lose track of time. If dreams had a background track, this would be it.
If you’re willing to give it the ten minutes it requires, Rorksha delivers a deeply absorbing ride that takes your mind into a journey you’ll never forget.
