The Vacant Shapes – Ghosts of Sunflowers

The three piece rock band from California, The Vacant Shapes have come out with their new single, Ghosts of Sunflowers. Its sultry sentiment and ambient melodies are a comfort to the heart.

With an ocean of emotion, the guitar riffs stream through nostalgic drum beats. Its gloomy warmth is reminiscent of early evenings when the sun begins to slowly descend into the horizon. The baritones wonderfully reflect the fuzzy basslines. With a sunflower’s compass, the vocals follow the light of the guitar melodies. Its resonant power makes it gleam and glow as it disperses into the soundscape.

As the track progresses, the pockets of emotions in the vocals are harvested by the swelling riffs and beats. The golden showers of melody sweep through the song like rain. All in all, this indie-rock track is pleasantly melancholic. It is melancholic like an overcast sky, melancholic like old polaroids, melancholic like autumn leaves.

The track shows off a stellar rhythm construction and soundscape development. With delightful transitions and an edging tempo, the band realizes the song’s theme beautifully. And the sonority of the thick grooves combined with mellow guitar hooks makes for an immersive listening experience.
