Chris Matt Bull, former vocalist of Manchester-based band City Reign, returns with his new project Every Other Weekend. After stepping back from music following his father’s passing, he rebuilt his writing in 2018, recording songs that explore renewal and self-forgiveness. With support from close collaborators, he shaped a sound rooted in honesty. Now, he arrives with his latest single Come Back (When You Feel Like), released 17 November 2025.

Come Back (When You Feel Like) opens with a soft, nostalgic guitar that sets a warm, fall-light mood. The lyrics sit with uncertainty instead of trying to solve it. Lines like “sometimes you might figure out all the answers… but much more likely you will get on with all the things you need to do to get by” frame life as a series of quiet continuations rather than breakthroughs. They acknowledge how often we move forward without clarity.
Meanwhile, the chorus offers refuge, “if there is no way to come out swinging, find a way to come back… you can come back when you feel like.” It treats resilience not as force but as return. The repetition, paired with gentle backing vocals, feels like someone keeping the light on for you.

Nothing in the writing rushes emotion; instead, it honours the pace of healing. Musically, the song reinforces that softness. The guitar carries a warm, nostalgic tone, and the drums settle into a steady rhythm that never shakes the ground. It feels like a light sweater on an autumn walk.
Finally, Come Back (When You Feel Like) becomes a song about surviving the in-between. It accepts fear, exhaustion, and hesitation, then answers them with quiet encouragement. It doesn’t fix you; it stays with you until you feel ready to move again.

Figuring out my path while actively plotting ten others. Serious about my dreams with somewhat chaotic ambition. Will do anything for cats.
