The Vanities & Kaysha Louvain Step Into 80s Pop with Upcoming Single “The End of Love”

There’s a cinematic pull to the upcoming release from Cardiff duo The Vanities, created in collaboration with award-winning songwriter Kaysha Louvain, that leans fully into the allure of 80s pop. Their new single, The End of Love, is drenched in atmosphere. It literally walks through the 80s daydream—hypnotic synths, basslines thick and unhurried, and a groove that anchors it all with quiet confidence.

Rather than chasing retro nostalgia, the track reshapes it. Louvain’s vocal presence sharpens the edges, while The Vanities’ production finds space for nuance. A sudden saxophone cry, a flicker of funk in the guitar—these fleeting touches give the track its character. Meanwhile, the influence of Depeche Mode, Shirley Bassey, and Eurythmics runs through the sound.

The Vanities have never hidden their love for polished pop, a passion reflected in past projects with Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet) and Peter Cox (Go West). Here, that experience deepens. Moreover, they bring in Welsh rock royalty Owen Powell of Catatonia on guitar, Jack McDougal on saxophone, and Welsh music icon Andy Fairweather Low for added weight. Finally, recorded at Shabbey Road Studios with Al Steele of The Korgis, the single stands as both homage and reinvention.

The End of Love arrives September 19, 2025, on all major platforms via PYST/The Orchard/Sony.
