Cormac Liotta can create some amazing soundscapes with his goofy and groovy styles. One look at his collection, and you can get to know he’s up to something unique. His take on genres happens probably halfway after he’s made the song, so you might as well enjoy it. His latest EP is a collection of 3 songs with his new pedal. Cormac Liotta has made it pretty easy for us to review these songs. His EP title is direct, the songs have an overarching, religious presence of the new pedal, and his flow kicks it through and through. It is a post punk kind of treat you’re subjected to, and he’s able to find a common thread because of the superb pedal he now owns.

Literally, all about that tone

Starting with Olive, he gives you a Talk Box kind of feel in his songs. There is a phased out processed sound that comes out, classically demanding a rock edge. Cormac Liotta delivers this easily, with a barely one minute long number that might remind you of blink-182 or Sum-41. The rhythm and melody numbers are easy to remember, and he makes sure he is keeping the groove fun.

A joyous trifecta

From Horses, He Falls might make you chuckle through and through. It is a funny song, even wondering what the lyrics might be like is a fun exercise. Cormac Liotta lays down some rhymes that make it a visual treat, while bringing justice to his sweet pedal. It is something you can rock out to with your breakfast, and say nay to neighing.

The last song pushes through the point that you’re listening to songs from a new pedal. Personally, I love funky and groovy music like this that has an air of levity and humour. I don’t want to be told what to do and think all the time. Nor do I need a moral compass of some new design floating above my head when I’m listening to something.

Cormac Liotta eradicates all that. It is a simple joy he has, and he shares it with a joyous EP. He could have just used it in his next album, and we wouldn’t even notice, but he tells us. With an EP. Check out his other singles like I’m Right, You’re Evil and sweet songs like I Miss My Friends. Here is a musician making music as a creative outlet. Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
