The intro to the song is marked by a feel-good classic rock-and-roll sound that would immediately trasnport the listener to a picturesque Los Angeles sunset, roof down, wind in your hair— you get the image; the whole song has this aesthetic quality to it that finds itself right at home with the genre, and I quite loved it over the course of listening to this song.

The vocals are a focus on this track, delivering soulful messages, declarations of love undying, hopes unfettered, and energy warm and welcoming. The instruments keep swift pace with the vocals, especially the strummed acoustic guitars and basses, holding the track together and only contributing to making “What’s It Going To Take” a great listening experience.

As we step into the latter half of the song, we’re greeted by a sweet solo that hits just the right spots with its articulation, and sheer writing of the solo itself; it’s upbeat, cheery, and supremely well-executed. The rest of the production keeps things moving swimmingly, with the solid all-round mix and master driving forward this warm, welcoming sound with just the right amount of crunch on the guitars, and great control going on in the low-end, making the drumming and basses stand out in their own right.
