Shane Rennison Has Released A Versatile Indie Pop EP – “Nice To Meet You”

Shane Rennison is a singer-songwriter and recording artist from the Catskills in Upstate New York. His work stands out by real and soulful expression, whether he is performing a wide range of covers or performing one of his emotionally charged original songs. Shane took refuge in the Catskills in anticipation of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on New York City in 2020. There, he focused on songwriting and polished his guitar and piano skills. He has been releasing songs since 2022. Shane is also a regular live performer in the Catskills, where he covers songs from over 150 different bands spanning all genres, including legendary performers like Johnny Cash, Green Day, and Ed Sheeran.

Shane Rennison has released a new EP, “Nice To Meet You,” featuring 5 songs. The EP begins with the engaging and vibrant track “Cold Winter.” It begins with introspective, slow synths that create the illusion of introspection. Within seconds, the music transforms into an exciting masterpiece. A pulsing bassline, vibrant beats, and shining synths combine to make an amazing instrumental arrangement. Shane’s vocals are velvety and emotive, stealing the spotlight. As the song progresses, it becomes a danceable and infectious piece that is hard to overlook.

“Ghost” takes a u-turn from the previous one. With the deep synths and slowed-down beats, you’ll sense an unsettling undertone. The tempo is slower. You can sense annoyance in both the music and the vocals. It delves into emotions of loneliness and isolation as if you were an unseen like “ghost” to your partner and the pain that comes along with such relationships.

With its synths, cheery notes, and bright drum beats, “Another Chance” evokes a sense of nostalgia. It’s interesting because, despite its fast pace, the song conveys an underlying sense of sadness and vulnerability. The way these conflicting sections come together is amazing. Lyrically, the song explores the feeling of longing. It raises the question of whether the loved one will be there to offer support and catch you if you stumble and fall in life at any time. That yearning for a safety net or a second chance in an uncertain world is something many of us can relate to.

“Drunk” by Shane Rennison is an incredible banger that begins with an enormous surge of intensity from the first note. The raw and energetic drum beats in this one will have you inadvertently bopping your head. What’s interesting is how the keys and Shane’s vocals convey a sense of melancholy.  Those sprinkles of guitar riffs are absolutely delightful.  The guitar riff solo toward the end of the track is the icing on the cake. It is just fabulous.  I found this song to be a real highlight and a personal favorite so far.

The EP now concludes graciously with “Temptations.” With its joyful sounds and inviting beats, the song instantly made me smile. I couldn’t help but sway along with the song throughout. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to be on the beach, watching the sunset with a cocktail in hand and dancing the evening away. What a delightful way to wrap up the EP!
