“BAD TING”, by Proklaim: An energetic rap performance!

Proklaim, as we’ve come to talk about in the recent past, has been going through somewhat of a creative explosion– with his signature reggaeton downtempo RnB mixed with hip-hop and technically intense rapping– and keeps the good work going on his latest single, “BAD TING”– keep reading for my thoughts!

Right from the first bar, the spotlight is on the beat here– with its soft, smooth-flowing synths and pads that bring in a great sense of atmosphere, forming the perfect yin to the yang, that is Proklaim’s flows and lyrics atop the beat. The vocals do not miss– a positive message surrounded by verses and lines filled with multiline rhymes, with speed that sits right up with the speed-rappers of yesterday: quite a rare combination, I will note. Proklaim does a great job with the breath control between lines, and the flow is uninterrupted, effortlessly elegant, and is a fantastic display of his skills as a lyricist as a whole.

Another thing that stands out on “BAD TING” is the vocal processing– with his signature deep, rich layering of vocal layers to create more impact, he experiments with a more central sound on the verses that keeps focus on the rapping, and the soundstage expands rather nicely during the hook sections and the pre-choruses to create a wide, expansive sound. The ad-libs are also mixed really well into the track, creating an excellent listener’s image throughout the track. Coupled with the production and the sound design, this is one catchy listen.

In conclusion, Proklaim continues to make waves with his latest track, “BAD TING”– and the new experimentation he brings to the fore on this track showcase his ability to push boundaries within his niche, and do it excellently while at it. Check out the track here!
