Mac Miller Estate to Release his Second Posthumous Album “Balloonerism” on “Circles” Anniversary

Mac Miller’s family is planning to release a second posthumous album next year, six years after the rapper’s death at the age of 26. Mac Miller estate scheduled the release exactly 5 years after the release of his 2020 album ‘Circles’, his first posthumous album which he had been working on before his sudden death.

The Pittsburgh rapper’s family released a statement on Instagram last Thursday to announce the release of “Balloonerism” scheduled for 17th Jan 2025.

“Many of Malcolm’s fans are aware of Balloonerism, a full length album that Malcolm created around the time of the release of Faces in 2014,” they wrote. “It is a project that was of great importance to Malcolm — to the extent that he commissioned artwork for it and discussions concerning when it should be released were had regularly, though ultimately GO:OD AM and subsequent albums ended up taking precedence.”

They further added “We believe the project showcases both the breadth of his musical talents and fearlessness as an artist.”

His family also mentioned that for years, fans have circulated unofficial versions of the album. Mac Miller’s family stated that Malcolm frequently expressed the official release as being important to him. Thus his family felt that it was “more appropriate” to present it officially to the world.

The post also includes an album cover featuring a unique version of Mac’s face where it looks like a balloon that someone is hanging on to, with some peculiar features to notice here. We can see his nose turned upside down, one eye being somewhat vertical, both eyes being out of place, and one ear seeming to protrude outwards.

Physical copies (CD, cassette, vinyl) are available on his website for pre-order. Fans can also get the limited edition deluxe vinyl version that comes with a poster, a booklet of photos and lyrics, and a 3D pop-up centerfold.
