Green Day Reign Supreme in the UK With 14th Album: Saviors

American punk rockers Green Day’s recently released 14th album Saviors is currently outselling the rest of the UK Top 10 combined. Neck Deep and Saxon are also up there at number two and number three respectively.

Green Day – “Saviors”

Good news for pop-punk and heavy metal fans as the official charts unveil the current midweek runnings. As we see Green Day’s Saviors, the 14th studio album from Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool, is way up front, while Neck Deep and Saxon hold the second and third positions respectively! It would be Billie Joe and co.’s fifth Numero Uno in UK if it remains in its spot. Following in the footsteps of American Idiot, 21st Century Breakdown, Revolution Radio and Father Of All…

Neck Deep and Saxon follow suit

Where as Neck Deep’s self-titled LP, the fifth one from the Wrexham based pop-punk band, will be their highest-charting album if it continues to stay in second place. “I’d love a Number One to tick off the bucket-list. But paying too much attention to that stuff, I wouldn’t want it to cloud the effort that we put in. Maybe a mistake I’ve made in the past is, ‘We’ve gotta get this chart position!’ and then Taylor Swift always comes along (laughs)”, says frontman Ben Barlow. The band comprises of brothers Ben and Seb Barlow, Matt West, Sam Bowden and Matt Powles.

Meanwhile heavy metal outfit Saxon’s 24th album Hell, Fire and Damnation stands at their first top 3. Four decades since they started, the band have claimed three Top 10 records and as many as 10 Top 40 entries.
