The Album

Recently, on October 24, 2025, Sloe Paul released his third studio album, Searching/Finding, via Treibender Teppich Records. The album is an atmospheric indie-pop collection with psychedelic and soul influences, exploring love, personal growth, and the search for meaning. Meanwhile, its lyrics balance gentle autumn melancholy with hope for new beginnings, showing how the act of searching can itself be a form of discovery.

Among the nine tracks, What I Dream At Night had been previously released as a single. While the other eight—Venus Weeks, Badger, Butterfly, Joy Will Find You, First Day of Eternal Spring, November, Winter in Vegas, and Mountain, debuted with the album. Across its runtime, Searching/Finding offers an immersive, layered, and reflective listening experience.

Venus Weeks opens the album, setting a tranquil, ethereal tone. “If I sit here any longer, this feeling’s only getting stronger.” It perfectly captures that gentle, immersive calm, drawing you into the album. Reverb and soft synthesizer swirls create warmth that wraps around you, like “a sip of mulled wine.” Then, Badger follows with layered instrumentation and intertwining vocals, including guest Ella Estrella Tischa: “How come you’re such a tough guy?…what I feel is insecurity.” The lyric reflects hidden vulnerability, echoing the shimmering, delicate melody.

Next, Butterfly drifts on floating synths and honeyed guitars with a subtle rhythm. “I think I have found new friends, crazy, crazy, crazy, the world goes round and round.” The lyrics have a restless, wandering feeling of life and change, mirroring the track’s airy melody. After, What I Dream At Night slows things down introspectively, with transparent guitars, soft vintage bass, and muted vocals melting into the sonic space. It feels intimate, like reading someone’s private diary at twilight: “What I dream at night is not what my day is looking like.”

Then, Joy Will Find You opens with piano before building into a quiet triumph: “’Cause there is a rule that joy will find you in the darkest places, in the darkest corners of your mind. Oh, I know that I have been there so many times.” It conveys hope and resilience, giving a quiet emotional lift in the album’s journey. Soon after, First Day of Eternal Spring, an instrumental co-written with Marius Schwingel, follows with soft percussion, nostalgic synth, and a velvety saxophone that shakes you awake. November evokes autumnal fragility: “I try to assign the grief in my mind. It wakes me up in the morning and follows me to bed. It lives right between my eyebrows.” The lyric grounds the track’s reflective, bittersweet tone.

Soon after, Winter In Vegas stretches into cinematic space with relaxed drums and shimmering synths, evoking a hypnotic nighttime drive. Lastly, Mountain closes gracefully with a smooth waltz-like melody and subtle brass: “I tried to imagine how I’d hope it would be. There is a mountain so high that you and I can climb it together, no more.” It captures the album’s sense of closure and emotional satisfaction.

Finally, Searching/Finding moves as a continuous emotional journey. By blending Sloe Paul’s lyrical introspection with lush instrumentation, leaving listeners contemplative, soothed, and subtly uplifted.
