DAAY – Golden Tree | Grimly

British Indie Rock band, DAAY, has hit the studios to release another brilliant track. Following the success of their earlier singles which focused on the creation of the band, frontman Alex Barty-King aims for bigger challenges. While the 6-piece group grows, Barty-King and Nick Weymss remain constant. Their discography seems to grow in leaps and bounds with every new track they put out. Moreover, the infectious energy and loud tones are the perfect blend of daytime worship and nighttime irreverence.

Their latest track, Golden Tree is an experimental, dark piece with gloomy textures. This track sounds like the soundtrack to a nightmare. The horns and drums do such a great job at creating this dark, warm texture in the atmosphere. Moreover, the distorted guitar adds to this jarring feeling of agony, almost like you’re freaking out. While this goes on, you’ll notice how everything is placed perfectly. Barty-King‘s vocals are what really do it for me, though. DAAY has this uncanny ability to create a soundscape that will immerse you fully in the song. Additionally, Golden Tree manages to do this quite well with how great the mix is!

The whole track is a masterful display of what good musical engineering is. Everything from the percussion to the melody and harmonies is simply superb. DAAY is the kind of versatile band that can make music that will keep you guessing. It’s so amazing what they can do with every single instrument at their disposal.
