The Margaret Hooligans-Fat Tongue | Prepare for takeoff

Your perception of music should be yours alone. If you’re a genre purist, spare the coffee shop commentary. Yes, there is good music available, and no, it isn’t on the radio. Thank Spotify for making it available. Shun them a little for not paying artists more. There is no point I’m trying to make here by the way. The Margaret Hooligans are back with their 8th song for the year. It’s called Fat Tongue. Just like my introduction, its a little bit all over the place.

That’s precisely what I love about it. A man and woman get together for music, use the most absurd instruments, and create the most unique music I’ve heard. Now, unique doesn’t always mean good. There are parts where I felt flow could be achieved. On the other hand, my job is also to whine about people who do actual work.

With an intriguing beat, Fat Tongue is a dive into a reggae pop-mashup world that might never be. This genre might not even exist outside this song. However, the vocals are fun to hear, the beat is something I grooved to. Then the little past two minute mark comes in. Prepare to keep safe distance from walls in order to not get your brains on them.

The track switches to a post-punk fire sale, the chaos something that Jack White would marry into. We’re into garage rock territory and there’s nothing to hate here. Now stop pretending like reading this is going to make you any wiser. I’m just a critic with a fat tongue, you need to listen to some insane mixology here:

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
