Blacklist Union Unleash Their Sixth Studio Album “Slay the Dragon”

About the Artist

Formed in 2006, Los Angeles-based rock band Blacklist Union have spent nearly two decades building their place in the hard rock scene with grit and authenticity. Fronted by Tony West, the group blends the swagger of Guns N’ Roses with the grit of Stone Temple Pilots to create a distinct sound. Moreover, their previous album, Letters from the Psych Ward, earned critical acclaim and surpassed two million streams overall.

Now, Blacklist Union step into their most ambitious chapter yet. They are set to release their sixth studio album, Slay the Dragon, on September 12, 2025 via BLU Records. The album includes 12 tracks, with singles Mississippi Moonhound, Up in Smoke, and Dyin’ 4 U already available. Meanwhile, the remaining nine songs: Can You Heal Me, Do It For The Song, Free At Last, All Hail the King, Horns and Halos, Hey Mr. Superstar, Rock N Roll Soldier, X Marks the Spot, and the title track Slay the Dragon, debut with the album.

Early previews already highlight the band’s range and intensity.

Up in Smoke, bursts open with relentless drums in a zig-zagging rhythm, as if sparking a fire. Then, Do It For the Song, charges forward on a pressing electric guitar with drums that land in twos, setting the pace of a march. Horns and Halos shifts the tone, opening with a slower, almost angelic guitar line that soothes before the storm.

Next, Free At Last carries one of the album’s most refreshing rhythms. The kind that makes you stop in your tracks if you heard it in public, pulling you into its sway. Finally, the title track, Slay the Dragon, kicks off with a theme-like melody straight out of a western game. An anthemic soundtrack for the quest its name promises. As for the rest? Consider this your invitation to press play.

Overall, the album moves between heavy riffs and sharp choruses, while the vocals keep the focus direct and personal. Consequently, the album reflects the band’s evolution and shows how they continue to expand their sound, making Slay the Dragon a release fans will not want to miss.
