Hail To The Thief – Radiohead Releases New Live Recordings From 2003

Radiohead has released a compilation of 12 live recordings from their “Hail To The Thief” album, consisting of live tracks recorded since the actual album release till the end of the “In Rainbows” tour .

The alt-rock outfit just released an album of live recordings from the 2003 electro-rock classic “Hail To The Thief”, last Wednesday (August 13th). Consisting of tracks recorded in London, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, and Dublin between the years of the album release and the end of the 2009 “In Rainbows” tour, the 12-track album will be a nostalgic treat for Radiohead fans. Ben Baptie has mixed the album, while Matt Colton has mastered it. Physical editions will be out on October 31st.

“I was shocked by the kind of energy behind the way we played…,” says Yorke on the compilation album.

In a statement explaining how the record came about, frontman Thom Yorke said, “In the process of thinking how to build arrangements for the Shakespeare Hamlet/Hail to the Thief theatre production, I asked to hear some archive live recordings of the songs. I was shocked by the kind of energy behind the way we played, and it really helped me find a way forward.”

Yorke also stated how Ben Baptie did an amazing job on the album. “It has all been a very cathartic process; we very much hope you enjoy them.”

Yorke had cued the orchestra for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s adaptation of the classic Shakespeare.

This marks their first release after forming a limited liability partnership earlier this year.

Released in 2003 as their sixth studio album, the album was produced by their longtime producer Nigel Godrich. Following an unexpected internet leak just two months before its initial release, “Hail To the Thief” had debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and number three on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Prior to this, 2008 saw the band reframe some of their songs from the “Hail To The Thief” album on the live studio recording of In Rainbows – From the Basement“.

Fans can pre-order the one-off vinyl pressing in a limited-edition red colorway from independent record stores. Whereas the band’s online store has a black or cyan version of the same.
