President-elect Donald Trump took the oath of office foe the second time on the January 20th US Presidential inauguration ceremony. Opera tenor Christopher Macchio had the honor of singing the national anthem this time, which Lady Gaga had had in 2021, for Joe Biden. Also performing was country singer-songwriter Carrie Underwood, the 2025 “American Idol” contestant, a surprise get for the inauguration programme.
Trump’s 2017 inauguration had seen another reality show “America’s Got Talent” contestant Jackie Evancho performing “The Star-Spangled Banner”.
After 2017’s inauguration which didn’t see many stars perform, Joe Biden had brought back the glamour, the prestige that the American inauguration ceremony holds, with the 2021 installment hosting a list of celebrities, in spite of the Covid-19 terror around. Headline artist Lady Gaga had performed the national anthem before a masked crowd who attended with the necessary precautions. 1,90,000 flags represented the usual audience since they couldn’t attend due to restrictions.
2021 US Presidential Inauguration:“Lady Gaga Rebelling Against the Trump Government, Love it,” read a tweet.
All our eyes were on Lady Gaga not only due to her powerful mesmerizing vocals, but how she dressed herself as well. While Gaga’s Schiaparelli haute couture gown had stole the show, it was the eye catching golden brooch which was attached to the lapel of her dress, featuring a dove carrying an olive branch, that made it impossible for the audience to not notice her.

Fans had also compared it to the mockingjay bird seen in Suzzanne Collins’ then popular dystopian series “The Hunger Games”.
Gaga had shared a post on Instagram after the performance: “A dove carrying an olive branch. May we all make peace with each other.”
The evening inauguration ball had been replaced by a “Celebrate America” concert, broadcast without audience, starring celebrities like Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, John Legend, Demi Lovato, Justin Timberlake and Tom Hanks. Katy Perry had closed the ceremony with her hit “Firework” accompanied by a spectacular firework show.
