Kodaline Decide to “End On A High” With Their “Fifth And Final Album”

Dublin indie-rockers Kodaline are calling it quits after their “fifth and final album as Kodaline”. The band took to social media on Thursday to post a video announcing the same.

“We know this might come as a surprise, and it’s definitely bittersweet for us too,” the group said in a video shared to Instagram. “What we’ve shared with you has changed our lives forever.”

“From busking on the streets of Dublin to playing shows across the world, it really has been the stuff that dreams are made of. We want it to end on a high, so before we say goodbye, we’re heading into the studio one last time to record our fifth and final album as Kodaline,” the video further says.

Kodaline has not yet announced a final concert, which keeps fans waiting.

“I just liked the name. It looked cool” – Steve Garrigan When Asked About the Band Name

When the band had changed their name to Kodaline in 2012, fans had questions about the name. The word did not exist, but then why this word? Frontman Steve Garrigan, who came up with the name, had said, “I just liked the name. It looked cool,” in a 2013 interview.

We cannot be sure if Kodaline had in mind that such a random name would find such a big place in fans’ hearts, but from fan reactions, it looks like they certainly did. “when you said your last goodbye, i died a little bit inside.. never hit harder than today,” comments an emotional fan on Instagram, referring to the lyrics of their 2013 hit “All I Want”.

To the fans and members of Kodaline, we assume the split is going to be nothing less than a situation than what they wrote about in their pop-rock anthem “High Hopes”. So yeah, quoting the band, we got “High Hopes” that they will “Let it go, go out and start again, but it’s not that easy!”
