England’s Glastonbury festival, held at Worthy farm, Pilton, Somerset, has revealed its 2024 lineup. As per announcement, the dates for this year are from June 26th to 30th. Coldplay, Dua Lipa and SZA will be headlining the festival. The British music festival will also feature Canadian singer-songwriter Shania Twain in the “legend slot” on Sunday afternoon. Some other names on the list are LCD Soundsystem, Little Simz, Burna Boy, PJ Harvey, Idles, The National, and Jessie Ware.
Names common to the festival: Coldplay and Dua Lipa; And the new acts making history
This is the fifth time Coldplay will be taking the Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage, the first act to do so. Coldplay had first played on this stage in 2002, when they had just released one album. When they were quite a name among pop-rock’s big leagues, they headlined the festival in 2005, 2011 and 2016. South Korean boy band Seventeen which consists of 13 members will be making history as the first K-pop group to perform at the festival.

While this is the third time on the this stage for Dua Lipa having played in 2016 and 2017 before, this will be SZA’s first time as well. Dua Lipa had also announced her third album “Radical Optimism”, a day before her billing. The album has already got a boost with singles “Houdini” and “Training Season” already becoming global hits. More acts are to be announced soon.

As per Shania Twain’s words to BBC, she had been “over the moon” to be a part of the lineup. “Everyone always talks about it being the pinnacle of festival slots,” said Twain. “The only advice everyone gives me is to bring my wellies.” She added, “I’m doing the hits — the songs that everybody knows and the versions that everybody knows. It’s just going to be a big sing-along party.”
Last year we saw Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Elton John headlining the Glastonbury festival. Elton John had taken the Sunday evening slot as part of his farewell tour, 2023 also being his first year headlining the festival. Yusuf/Cat Stevens had performed in the “legends” slot. Guns N’ Roses had also made their Glastonbury debut last year while it was the third time for the Arctic Monkeys.
Festival tickets for the five day festival have already been sold out, although UK based fans still have an opportunity to enter a prize draw. If lucky, they can earn 20 pairs of tickets. The British Red Cross, Oxfam, and War Child will receive the proceeds from the prize draw, thus helping the organisations continue their humanitarian mission.
