“These Old Jeans”, by La Need Machine: Charm and charisma

La Need Machine are a band based out of Seattle, Washington, with a fresh, genre-bending sound that brings in elements of Americana, pop, punk and even some elements of rock-and-roll thrown in there for good measure. They’re also gaining a reputation fast for being involved positively with the community to inspire and drive musicians; and on their latest single, “These Old Jeans”, they bring a fresh, inspiring sound to the table— keep reading for my thoughts!

Right off the bat, there is a soft, midtempo vibe to the song that immediately sounds warm and comforting, especially the plucked acoustic guitars in the background that soundtrack the vocals; and the percussion makes its presence known gently with a soft, yet still precise and on the meter playing style.

The vocal harmonies blend seamlessly together to create intervals that add a lot of melodic depth to the song, and as the electrics kick in for the pre-chorus and the chorus that ensues, the energy tangibly picks up, and the listener is never once left out of the action and the drama that unfolds, even if so in its gentle, soft-spoken ways; and the result is a comfort listen that would charm and cheer you up on your day.

The production plays great support throughout the runtime of the song, and the ensemble comes beautifully together, especially the strings towards the end of the song, and create a warm blanket of sound. This is also topped off quite elegantly by the mix that achieves that nice, warm analog sound, with characteristic colour and warmth proudly a part of this mix— and that is the best way to finish off a song like “These Old Jeans”.

In conclusion, “These Old Jeans” by La Need Machine: a joy to listen to, and a definite stay in my playlist. Check out the song here!
