Allentown is the hometown of Connor Desai, a lyric poet and folk-soul musician. Although she had always experimented with music, her formal journey into the world of music began after the birth of her little girl. Desai is a middle school math teacher, adjunct math education professor, and devoted mother of three, in addition to her musical endeavors. The first word that came to mind when I hit play on Connor Desai’s latest track, “Forever,” was “soothing.” It wrapped me in a warm embrace from the initial strums of the guitar and Desai’s soulful vocals. Her vocals are extremely smooth and very emotive. What struck me was how the song progressed after the 0:50 mark, where gentle piano keys with a nostalgic feel against a backdrop of lively beats were introduced. This contrasting mix of elements contributed to the emotional intensity of the song.

The gloomy ambiance of the song is quite apparent yet so magical that it will calm you down. I felt like I was taking a long stroll as a soft breeze rustled my hair. It’s a spellbinding experience, and I couldn’t help but replay the song multiple times to savor its calming effect on my soul. “Forever” by Connor Desai delves into the pain of feeling misunderstood in a relationship, a heartbreaking theme that will strike a chord with anybody who has experienced the fragility of such relationships. I could listen to this song all day!
