“Lonely Town” by A-Zal: A Harmonious Fusion of Raw Soul and Polished Sound

A-Zal, a singer hailing from New York, embarked on a solo career in pop music following a successful stint in composing soundtracks for prominent productions such as Marvel’s Loki and Ms. Marvel. His early years spent in London have left an indelible mark of British pop influence in his musical DNA. On his new single, “Lonely Town”, what does he bring? Keep reading for my thoughts!

From the first second of the song, there is a soft guitar riff that immediately takes over your attention and draws you into the song until the vocals kick in. And true to his style, the vocals are raw and filled with soul beyond words.

AS the song unfolds, we are exposed to the production at play here. The layers all seamlessly blend together to create something rather special-sounding; from the clean electric guitar in the background to the droning pianos in the background, the production is varied and rich here, even affording a break in the middle to make room for a beautiful brass section.

A-Zal loves his layers thick and creamy, and we’re exposed to that here- with the mix holding it all together while sounding effortless at managing the dynamics on “Lonely Town” rather comfortably. Every small recording shines through, with the mix not crumbling at all, and I think that’s an excellent job done.

To conclude, “Lonely Town” is polished, has panache and drive, and sounds great overall. It more so than deserves a place in your playlist this week. Check out “Lonely Town” by A-Zal here!
