Mexico Rockers Café Tacvba Embarks on US Tour with new Music After 7 Years

Mexican rock band Café Tacvba released their new track “La Bas(e)”on Wednesday, marking the beginning of a new era for the group. “La Bas(e)” celebrates their 35th anniversary.

It has been produced by Gustavo Santaolalla, a very familiar name associated with the band. The grammy winning producer has worked with them for all their studio albums till date. Café Tacvba comprises Rubén Albarrán, Emmanuel del Real, Joselo Rangel, and Enrique Rangel.

“La Bas(e)” sets the tone for the next phase of the iconic band Café Tacvba, always reinventing itself, but with an unmistakable stamp. It is a declaration of union, freedom, brotherhood and security for migrants, erasing borders and presenting the world as a great paradise where we are all in the same game taking care of each other.” – This is what the Youtube caption reads. The chorus (“1, 2, 3 por ti, 1, 2, 3, por mí”) is inspired by a popular Mexican children’s game.

It dreams of a world where all humans are watching out for each other,” reads the release. It also mentions the band has “more surprises” for later this year.

This is also the first time Café Tacvba has dropped an original track since their last album Jei Beibi released in 2017, which featured tracks like “1-2-3,” “Futuro,” and “Que No.” Although the band didn’t release an original, they were involved in other activities throughout the years. On October 2019, the group released their second MTV Unplugged Live album. They have also released a mixtape featuring hits and a remix of “Eres” with Sindicato del Ritmo.
