Bangla Rockers Fossils Drop Their Pre-Valentine’s Release “F7” – First Music Video Out!

Bangla rock band Fossils just released their ninth studio album “F7” just before Valentine’s Day! Fossils have been one of the most prominent names in Bangla Rock for more than two decades now, if not the most prominent. Excited fans had the option to pre-save the album 7 days before the launch on their favourite streaming platforms, when the countdown clock started ticking. 13th February, midnight 12 am – that was the release date and time.

Frontman Rupam Islam says, “The album has 6 songs, out of which the first one is 11 minutes long! We can all listen to the album from 13th Feb, but winners of our lucky contest will be able to listen to the songs on 12th February, even before the release.”

With Gandu director Q, their visual representative this time, and his ODDJOINT getting on board with the release, they organised a listening party with exclusive “F7” merchandise.

Fossils “F7”: Five Years Of Blood and Sweat – Fine Organic Storytelling

Fossils’ origin dates back to 1998, their music being a blend of blues, rock and psychedelia, hard rock, along with Rupam Islam’s vocal renditions of his characteristic psychoanalytical lyrics. Although Bangla rock had existed before that, Rupam Islam took it to the next level with his passionate words and melancholic aggression, thus appealing to the youth, as Kolkata learned to head-bang like never before.

“F7” is Fossils’ first work after the pandemic. The album has been a work in progress for around 5 years. Every instrument on the album has been played live, thus achieving Fossils’ heavy but organic soundscape, while prioritising perfect storytelling over just fast playing.

Fossils “F7”: An Unique Listening Party that celebrates Kolkata’s culture

The listening party was held on a terrace in New Alipore, more like a fun party representing Kolkata culture with a dedicated phuchka table than a regular industry event. Guests also had the option to choose jhalmuri, chaat, bhelpuri, papri chaat, patishapta and chana garam. “Instead of the usual red-covered phuchka baskets, we had had black covers with The Fossils F7 logos. The phuchka seller, who usually wears white, wore black this time,” said Rupsha Dasgupta, Rupam’s wife. She added the dress code for the night was black – Fossils’ signature colour.

PS: Fossils just dropped their new music video for Khudharto Mangsashi from F7!! Check it out now.
