Julian Petrin – Embrace

Over the past three decades, Petrin has created a beautiful ensemble of musical themes and styles that he is now re-publishing piece by piece. The German-Italian artist builds bridges between neo-classical music, compositional ambient and downtempo electronica to create emotional movements. Julian Petrin released Embrace in 2003.

The artist claims Jean-Michel Jarre, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and David Sylvian as his prime influences. His music falls within the spectrum extending between Vladimir Cosma, Philippe Sarde, Francis Lai and Air, Rone, Bayonne, and Niklas Paschburg.

The artist creates an expanding balloon of suspense that only grows in strangeness. He uses beats as transitive elements, a guide that takes us through the majestic showcase of melodies that the artist puts on. Scenic transitions elevate us to an ever-expanding canvas. Its eternal sweep and inevitability swirls with a celestial magnificence. The brilliance of the composition lies in how the artist feeds the warm synths into a circular pattern to form an embracing rhythm.

As a veteran of synth pop/cinematic instrumental pop, that artist has an inexorable catalogue of songs that reflect the decades from the dawn of synth-pop to today’s eclectic expanse of electronic instrumental music!
