Some musicians pick up a guitar when inspiration strikes. Bong Lebowski opens a browser and starts writing code. His latest single, “st@ck_0verflw,” is a fascinating experiment in what happens when programming becomes an instrument rather than just a production tool.
A Little Rebellion Against AI
Interestingly, the track began with a Facebook advertisement promoting AI-generated music. Having made music through coding since 2020, Bong Lebowski decided to show what could be done without AI.

The result is a 4-minute, 22-second dive into Goa-inspired acid trance, created entirely in Strudel, a browser-based live-coding environment. No digital audio workstation, no AI assistance, and no post-production editing.
Where Code Meets the Dance Floor
Built around F# minor and a steady 117 BPM groove, “st@ck_0verflw” brings together layered percussion, bass, drones, and a restless acid synth line.
The defining element is its 303-style sound, with a filter continuously opening and closing to create an almost breathing effect. There’s something wonderfully obsessive about the process. Tiny adjustments to code become shifts in rhythm and texture, eventually leading to the track’s central drop just after the two-minute mark.

Unlike much of Bong Lebowski’s recent work, this one doesn’t draw from Hindustani ragas. Instead, it lets repetition, layering, and electronic experimentation do the talking.
An Interesting Kind of Nostalgia
The retro-computer artwork feels particularly fitting. Its old-school CRT monitor recalls the artist’s earliest coding experiences, while the title cleverly references both programming errors and the stacking of musical layers.
What makes “st@ck_0verflw” interesting isn’t simply that it was coded. It’s the philosophy behind it. At a time when AI promises instant music, Bong Lebowski makes a convincing case for getting your hands dirty and building something yourself.
And sometimes, all you really need is a good groove and a little curiosity.
