This Australian band, Riflebirds, is definitely an act you don’t want to miss! As a HUGE fan of psychedelia, I’ve listened to a lot of music that makes no sense (I Am The Walrus by The Beatles) and a lot of music that has me grooving harder than most other music would (Eventually by Tame Impala). I’d have to say that the Riflebirds are a breath of fresh air. With electrifying, hip-shaking melodies and grooves that will make you want to watch them live.
The band’s unique blend of lead guitar AND piano really adds a depth that only psychedelia-enthusiasts truly appreciate. The charisma of the band just flows through the music right into your soul. While Debra is definitely one of those tracks that sounds like it came straight out of Woodstock it definitely reminds me of Elephant by Tame Impala (Kevin Parker) it has its unique characteristics that kind of take you back in time. It sounds like it belonged in the ’69 Woodstock lineup. Riflebirds bring a freshness that I haven’t heard in a long time, something about them just screams Jimi Hendrix meets Jimmy Page. If that doesn’t convince you to listen to them, I don’t know what will!
