Delivering his verse on this beat is Detroit based rapper MoCity Jones. Having grown up in the heart of the action, it shouldn’t be surprising how well this artist can invoke nostalgia. MoCity has the kind of flow that you would expect on old school hip hop. So that should tell you this musician adores the golden age of hip hop. However, he has been open to all kinds of musical experiences. He admits that his influences range from Motown to Classic to folk music, and more. That said, he is devoted to hip hop with his own nu-skool flavour.
Mr Right Now is no trick — the lyrics are what you’d expect from this old school beat. The rapper is talking about himself with utter confidence, dreaming bigger and manifesting it. In old school fashion, the rapper’s sexual prowess also bring him a self assurance. And it does come off as cocky the first time around. However, you realize that his take on the traditional Detroit style is just edgy enough without crossing the line. Mr Right Now isn’t the story of how the artist knows he is the best of the best. On the contrary, it is a narrative on hard work and consistency. The true recipe to success, as we’ve come to learnt from hip hop.
