Jzzy (AKA Jasmine Mohammed) is a 19-year-old Pop Rock artist based in Ajmer, Rajasthan, India. Her musical persona follows the idea of the strong female artist. Jasmine cites influences from Avril Lavigne to Paramore’s Hayley Williams. Her music is fresh, and groovy and fills the entire room. Moreover, Jzzy creates the perfect atmosphere in each of her tracks. She shows exquisite knowledge in her mixes, even crafting harmonies and countermelodies that give her music contrasting textures. I think what makes her music so appealing is how confident she is in it.
Her latest single, After Effects, comes after her success with Bare Minimum. The track is so crucially 90s Post Punk Pop that I’m pleasantly surprised with Jzzy. She manages to create a Post Punk revival by also using an R&B type of groove. Moreover, her voice seems to emulate those of Avril Lavigne and Hayley Williams. Her music is absolutely phenomenal, showcasing how strong she is and her lyrics are sublime. With every new track, Jzzy shows us how much she grows and outdoes herself. It’s interesting, mostly because I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone in India who’s actually been able to emulate this sound so naturally.
Jzzy shows insane talent and skill to create a track that will blow you away. After Effects will take you on a journey back in time to when fishnets and fluorescents were all the rage. You may not want to miss out on this.
