Fabbro di Chiavi-Intangible Part 1

Fabbro di Chiavi brings instrumental symphonic metal to its knees with his EP, “Intangible Part 1”

Fabbro di Chiavi is a guitar maestro, but not limited to that. The aerospace engineer and composer, this man has had  art bleed into life and vice versa. His latest album is some of the best guitar compositions I have heard from an indie instrumentalist in metal and rock. This is his collection, Intangible Part 1.

I am always excited to hear parts, for there is more to come. The whole might be a picture unlike any other. This holds true for Fabbro di Chiavi. Opening with the extremely powerful Embracing the unknown overture, he shreds elements that disturb the fabric of time. Using a cinematic textural background, there are aspects of prog rock and metal as well. You feel like you’re hearing Devin Townsend, and the result is spectacular. He ruffles through the notes like they are leaflets of an advertisement, he also contains the texture within. I have always admired indie musicians that go the extra step in making their own sound. The opening single here definitely does that.

Some of the best metal compositions I’ve heard is in Journey to Apatheia. From leading solos to engaging shred sessions, this song had everything. Fabbro di Chiavi has also made sure his tones are split carefully, for the rhythm pockets as well as his delectable solos. He brings prog rock soul to the centre of this project, really exploring the fretboard with his fingertips. Treating the spaces with respect, he only involves the lead when required. Playing with polyrhythms, Fabbro takes you through a journey unlike any other armed with his axe. He closes the series with the hardcore Dream Theater like song, The Emotion Ruler. The style is impeccable, the performance pulls the carpet from under you. Understanding the theme becomes all the more important when you approach it with such dexterity. A composer like Fabbro makes this heartfelt, yet precise.

You can hear him pay homage to his favourites, Symphony X, Steve Vai and Malmsteen with the way he breaks through the mediocrity of recent guitar compositions.

Intangible Part 1 is a solid start to the kind of music that is expected to come from Fabbro di Chiavi. The rock and metal community is always looking for broadening their horizons through specific lenses. This man checks all the boxes, with pride.

Fabbro also has another single called Light and Heavy out, where he delves into the duality of the instrumental music he loves so much. With part 2, he might tear past the envelope and experience much more, taking us with him. Listen to his album here and follow him for more like this!:

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
