Poetry and Song is a meta lyric about the value Dutch indie singer-songwriter Jacques Ellis finds in his craft, a language to express oneself where no other would suffice. Ellis crafts melancholy libretto in which he expresses the solace he finds in Poetry and Song, which is a personal catharsis for the artist. Having taken up the practice of creating music as an escape into oneself following the loss of his mother at an early age, the track finds some closure in his musical arc. Ellis’ skillful fingering and raw vocalisations create an eerily introspective soundscape that is oddly reminiscent of Chris Martin. Poetry and Song is Ellis’ third release, and together they tell a heartfelt story I will leave for you to discover.
