Wotts – Something | Wistful yet Groovy

The music of Ottawa-based indie pop duo Wotts just draws you in. Their music has an appealingly organic quality. Whether it’s the deep, ethereal soundscapes or the thoughtful, appealing lyrics, there’s something about their music that speaks to you. Wotts is made up of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jayem (Jay) and guitarist Ricky 100. With each upcoming release, they seem to be performing at the height of their abilities. There’s just something about their music that makes you want to keep returning for more.

Wotts is back with a new single, “Something,” and it’s just as good as I have come to expect from the band. Their distinctive vocal style is on full display, resulting in an epic track. It is a fresh, vibrant tune that will get your toes tapping. With a hint of rock and electronic elements, this song has a unique sound that sets it apart from anything else out there. It transported me to the 70s-80s when everything was groovy, and everyone knew who The Ramones were. The harmonies and overall ambiance of the song are evocative of that decade, making it feel like time travel for those who hear it for the first time. The melody and infectious beat will have you hooked from the first listen. All of the instruments come together like a well-oiled machine in their effortless execution, which is why this song is so addictive. This is the song that demands your attention. Every second of this indie pop bop is filled with captivating rhythms and melodies that keep you hooked until the end. This is just the latest example of what makes Wotts so special: their ability to create catchy, fun music with real depth and emotion. I can’t wait to see what Wotts has for us next!
