The Adam Price Group – House Ghosts | Relationships in complexity

Clarinetist and multi-instrumentalist Adam Price’s group, The Adam Price Group, has released their new magnificent album “House Ghosts“, which has already earned tremendous praises and glowing reviews from fans and critics. For me, the Soundtrack has masterpieces that both dazzle and move you. There are numerous sophisticated pieces that are frequently performed by incredibly gifted musicians and scholars, but to be honest, very few of them genuinely make you feel something. I would absolutely suggest this album as a testament to the fact that it has such attentive compositions with such complicated aspects and improvisations, yet the solos and arrangements as a whole tell us a tale that strikes an emotional chord within our souls.

First and foremost, I want to express my admiration for Adam’s performances in each song. He played with such passion and determination that it was noticeable. He could feel the emotion in his instruments, like if they were singing. For example, in the tune “Summer Thunder (The Last Rain Queen)“, the clarinet sounds so expressive that it transports you into his world, making you experience precisely what he was living through at the time. Similar feelings may be felt in tracks such as “The Girl in the White Dress“, “Eu Quero Você” and “Rotten Grapes” since each song contains such a wide range of emotions. However, the colour of the playing in each of these tunes changes to the shifting mood. The modulations shift, the pulse grouping changes, and even the voicing varies, all of which are intricately and meticulously written.

In addition, we are treated to such excellent piano playing. Even writing about it gives me goosebumps. The trills, the runs, the usage of accidentals, and the use of metric modulations in the improvisations are not only wonderful stunning sounding solos, but they also show the performer’s presence of mind and his mastery in temperament. The transitions between each instrument are so well-timed that they may be the deciding factor in the record’s ability to have a good narrative. The percussions, Timbales solos, and swing in the drum patterns are all so brilliantly composed that they are difficult to express in words. All I can say is that it is something that must be experienced.

In tracks like “Chameleon Colored Eyes“, “Eu Quero Você” and “Summer Thunder (The Last Rain Queen)“, we are also treated to some incredibly strong heavenly vocal performances. There are such fine details handled with such firm control, demonstrating how skill in a technique truly helps us articulate and exhibit the particular sensation we intend to portray. As a result, the record has left an indelible imprint on my memory. This album is highly recommended for all music enthusiasts, especially jazz enthusiasts. The compositions and arrangements are extremely well thought out; there is flexibility, but there is also a direction and a home to which all musicians know to return. I sincerely hope that the soundtrack reaches as many people as possible.
