The Isle of CC is a gender-fluid alt-soul artist hailing from Milton Keynes. They are a singer-songwriter, radio host and the director for the MK Fringe Festival. They are also the Director at Wordplay Magazine and writes music for television. Little Black Dress by The Isle of CC is the artist’s latest single which soon to be followed by their second EP, Void in late 2022.
With mellow synth melody flows, the song engenders a chill vibe. The low tonal vocals further adds to the slow blooming flourish of the song. With misty edges and matte textures, the song has chrome yellow undertones, lined with glitter and gold. The artist infuses the song with subtle jazz and blues details that adds to the lusciousness of the song. Like a quite flowing river, undisturbed and unstimulated, the song courses with serene melody ripples.
Its the perfect song for a lazy afternoon in; for slow dancing in the living room and reading love poems. We can also see aurum melody knots underlying the easy flowing vocals. Reminiscent of SZA, the artist’s musical style is effortlessly cultured and loaded with delicious rhythm placements.
The vocals carry a simple magic to it; like discovering secrets hidden in plain sight. Its bare and unpretentious; with an unassuming sincerity and refreshing uniqueness. The artist explores the tension and agony weaved into courting a new crush and the dilemmas that come with it. Using the little black dress as a token of the subject, the baritone vocals drizzle the song with an iconic struggle, an emotional tug of war, that belongs to all of us.
