Moon Walker is a spacey, alternative rock duo based in the United States. Consisting of singer/guitarist Harry Springer and drummer Sean McCarthy, Moon Walker is explosive and electrifying. The duo cites influences from Talking Heads, David Bowie and Led Zeppelin. The band uses original explosive drum grooves and thrashing guitar riffs that will have any rock fan headbanging along. After releasing multiple tracks together under the name The Midnight Club, Springer and McCarthy have amassed quite the following with over forty thousand monthly streamers on Spotify.
Their latest track, Doombox, is no exception to the Moon Walker sound. With Bowieesque spacey noises to tag along to the Jimmy Page-like guitar riffs, the track goes hard. The drums have a rather interesting groove that keeps the tempo of the track while also guiding it. Springer’s vocals are unmatched in how dynamic and clear they are. I don’t think I’ve heard a voice like this in rock since Roger Daltrey of The Who. The track really grinds it out with the most gritty textures while also keeping things clear for the listener. The mix, unlike the older mixes, has clear distinctions for each element, but it does this so well. I love how the overdrive doesn’t overpower the vocals and how the drums are actually audible.
Doombox is, certainly, a track that gives me hope that Rock isn’t dead. Moon Walker are out here trying to keep it flowing and they certainly deserve the following! Rock fans, wherever you are, you may want to check these guys out.
