Gabrielle Ornate-Rewrite The Rules | Sonic Swarm

An artist who modulates around 80’s pop has to be admired. The psychedelic rhythms, hummable melodies and the mood to dance is what was the leading characteristic. Gabrielle Ornate has put her own pop sensibilities into some of her inspirations, and blended it ever so lightly with rock. Her single Rewrite The Rules is proof of the same.

With flowing, cascading synths and her own voice having the ability to shape itself like water, Gabrielle does a lot with doing little. The minimal approach builds to the strong melody she has designed for the chorus, and it works as well. Including aspects of newer pop swells that are often used by the hit factory, Gabrielle Ornate vows to never repeat the verse with an easy loop that could have taken care of the song technically. Her bends have the same texture of George Michaels’, which she uses to her advantage.

Rather, she doubles down with some soft guitar work in the background, the beats having a punch, but cushioned. As her catchphrase for the track should have the bottom line, the instrumentals are repressed a little. This creates a magnificent effect. Gabrielle Ornate has done this in her other singles like The March of The Caterpillars & Waiting to Be Found as well. These songs are simple, yet you can’t stop listening to them because of the hook. Great production work as well.

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
