Today we’re listening to “Sunny” by Lukx – a father-son duo from Belgium that are known best for their multi-language hip-hop/rap releases. With over 30 singles out on Spotify since their debut in 2019, the duo has been constantly putting out bangers and have been making waves all across Europe! Their unique sound mixes French and English lyrics in a chill setting filled with infectious melodies, vibrant soundscapes and groovy beats.
Lukx’s latest release is a lighthearted, feel-good track that fits the chill summer mood quite well. “How do you really want it / Jump into fear like water like days like this like sunny / You make me feel like summer / Isn’t it funny”. In addition to the playful chorus, “Sunny” features French rap verses over simple and effective beats. It’s minimalistic production captures the sound of modern hip-hop along with Lukx’s own special touch. “Sunny” features laid-back French rap verses over simple beats. Moreover, its chill vibe comes from the warm synths and melodic tines that I must say, sound brilliant in stereo (get your headphones out for this one!). Accompanied by upbeat neo-soul guitars throughout to add to the laid-back feel of the track, Lukx mixes in all the elements cleanly to ensure a very enjoyable listen.
Lukx has already released 5 singles this year and they don’t seem to be stopping anytime soon! Fan favourites “MAD” and “Wild West” from 2021 have defined the father-son duo’s catchy sound, and “Sunny” seems to be another one of those tracks that’ll keep the fans asking for more.
